🌟🌟🌟 Solution Day 19: Performance... 🌟🌟🌟 Another request from Santa but this time, not a new feature, a performance check and refactoring. We analyzed the code, and we realize the method we are supposed to change is using recursivity for a simple algorithm. Before sending our suggestion, we decided to add some performance check and to use it to drive our refactoring. We added a benchmark project to check a specific API method and tag to be able to profile it. We also configured different parameters from 1 to 30 reindeers. We duplicated the logic to our project and could work on a second method that would be refactored to showcase the differences. After transforming the recursivity with a while loop, we were able to cut by more than half the execution time. Our benchmark was promising and Santa approved of the exercise. The saving of the ressources would ultimately help Xmas town and the whole planet. 🌟🌟🌟 💡 Time to reflect 💡 - What did you learn from it? - How could `benchmarking` certain pieces of code `improve your product quality`? - What `first action` could you take to move toward green IT?
